About Us

The Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad has been serving Northwest Indiana’s industrial corridor since 1925. The rail line has always been an integral link in the region’s rail transportation network. It is a unique shortline railroad because of our scheduled service at Chicago with all U.S. and Canadian Class I rail lines. This ensures customers have neutral, competitive access for the transportation of their finished goods or raw materials nationwide.

In addition, South Shore Freight also provides rail service to the Port of Chicago and thus access to the Great Lakes and Mississippi River shipping lanes.

With our unique geographic position in the shortline rail industry, Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad has grown in profitability as well as reputation. Our focus is on our customers, with 24-hour customer service support, web-based car tracing, and full EDI capabilities. We believe we provide customers with all the “bells and whistles” of larger lines, delivered with a level of service far above the competition.

Our team of dedicated professionals looks forward to serving the industry for the next 100 years, because we do a great job every day by “Connecting Industry – Delivering Value”.

Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad is an affiliate of Anacostia & Pacific Company (www.anacostia.com), a rail development and consulting firm based in Chicago.
