Chicago South Shore & South Bend Railroad has a fleet of cars especially tailored to the needs of its customers. This fleet is maintained at the company's shops, located in Michigan City, IN.

When cars are required from connecting lines, the South Shore has the ability to obtain these cars on a timely basis. Because of the convenient locations of interchange points and the short running time required to move the cars to customers, car orders are filled promptly. In addition to supplying customers with our own cars and those supplied from our connections, the South Shore has demonstrated its willingness to find a win-win solution, in one case by setting up a new pool of railroad cars for a major shipper. This action allowed our customer to reduce the number of cars it had been required to lease from a third party.
